Overview of Ministry Activity
Save & Protect - Spasi i Sohrani was established in 2002 by colonel Vyacheslav Kartavykh who has more than 30 years experience within Law enforcement. Our Mission is to assist the society in strengthening common welfare; stabilisation of the demographic situation; assistance to professionals aiding people infected with HIV; fighting drugs and alcohol-abuse; to show material- and social support; to increase public awareness about the severity and prevalence of drugs-abuse; aid in early detection and treatment of HIV; to provide hope and emotional support for the people and families affected by this life-threatening condition. Type of Ministry: HIV | AIDS, Street Children Mission Statement: No Alcohol - No Drugs - No Violence Fighting drugs, and AIDS is not just a health issue, it is an economic issue, a fundamental development issue and a security and stability issue. We organise hospitalisation for about 50-60 persons per year, distribute ten thousands of preservatives among youngsters, distribute books and shows films about AIDS in schools and educational centres. The Foundation\'s activities with concerts, movie-films and lectures against Drugs & AIDS are renumated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. -- Обратились за помощью ~12 тыс.человек. Vissa barn tvingas att bo på gatan för att de inte har någon annanstans att ta vägen. För andra är gatulivet en flykt från till exempel misshandel, vanvård eller alkoholism i ett splittrat hem. Ytterligare några barn uppehåller sig på gatan för att få tiden att gå, för att komma bort en stund från ett trångt hem med många familjemedlemmar eller för att tjäna pengar till sitt eget, eller familjens, uppehälle. Under 90-talet har hiv/aids-epidemin gett upphov till en stor del av ökningen av gatubarn. År 2000 var det totala antalet barn som blivit föräldralösa till följd av hiv/aids 13 miljoner. Gemensamt för alla gatubarn är att de är en produkt av fattigdom, social misär samt brist på utbildning och möjligheter.
