Reaching out in Hope and Love to the Children of Russia\'s Orphanages
Overview of Ministry Activity
Ministry Premise:
Only through full time love, engagement, and attention to the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of these children is it possible for them to overcome the desperate circumstances from which they come, and those in which they now live.
Ministry Overview:
Solotcha\'s Children was founded in 1997 to provide direct help to the children of the Solotcha Orphanage of the Ryazan Region in Russia. The focus of the ministry is:
- To constantly build the foundations of Love, Respect and Self Esteem into each child that God empowers us to love
- To provide programs that enrich the children\'s lives
- To provide programs that mentally, emotionally and spiritually build the children\'s character, and teach them about themselves, Christ\'s great love for them, and life in general so that they are better prepared for life after the orphanage
Specific programs start with the establishment of spiritually mature Christ minded teachers into the orphanage system. From this base of legitimacy the teachers get to know the children, the children learn about the teacher, and relationships are formed that give real power to the care and teaching of the children.
From this foundation other programs are introduced. Each program is specifically designed to meet specific needs, love the children, enrich their lives, and to teach them something. Sometimes that teaching is the simple demonstration that they are loved and special. Other programs are designed to challenge them and develop skills. The continual emphasis is, as much as possible, on experiential learning.
