Mission Statement
Our primary mission is to expose older (school age) orphans from Eastern European countries to the love of Christ through Christian American host families over the Christmas holidays and during the summer.
Overview of Ministry Activity
The ministry was originally started by Le Ann Dakake, through her local church in 2002 known as Frontiers for Children. However, beginning in January 2005, it was realized that the ministry needed to grow outside of one church and one general city. With help from generous donations of past hosting families, New Horizons for Children, Inc, was "born". Now plans to host more than 140 children per year, as compared with the previous 20-30 are in place along with growth to multiple Christian churches throughout the Southeast USA. More than 195 children have found their forever families through this program over the past 4 years, and many lives have been touched beyond this number with seeing the love of Christ through our host families.
New this year, NHFC expanded our ministry by identifying a few older teens (16-18) who have a desire and gift for helping younger children. Beginning with the summer 2005 program, two Jr. Assistants accompanied the group of younger children (ages 5-15) and "floated" between the host families who are hosting the youngest of the group. We also hope to find a host family who will invite the older teens to return for 1-2 school years to attend a local private school, in order to fully learn about functional Christian family life as well as the culture and be fully fluent in the English language.
For some orphanages our interview teams visit in September and February (while conducting interviews for the hosting program), we also provide money and donations to improve the standard of living for children unable to participate in the hosting programs. In Summer 2009, we have 115 orphans from Latvia, Russia and Ukraine, being hosted in over 20 different states.

Open to starting host programs in new countries as well as offering hosting in Canada.
