Mission Statement
MIR is a Russian Charitable Public Organization, based in St. Petersburg, chartered to help the poor, widows, and orphans, and to conduct cultural exchange and educational programs.
MIR exists to serve various ministries working in Russia.
Overview of Ministry Activity
MIR was founded to continue and expand work started by Mission Global Outreach. Since then MIR has grown and has added other partner organizations in addition to churches and individuals in the United States and Canada.
MIR is a safe, legal and dependable helper in transferring funds to the St. Petersburg region of Russia, for distribution according to the donors\' desires, for charitable and humanitarian purposes.
MIR issues Letters of Invitation for short-term teams and maintains working relationships with orphanages and summer camps in the St. Petersburg area (helping over 250 short-term missionaries come to Russia each year).
MIR has a hosting program in partnership with the American organization New Horizons for Children; orphans aged 6-15 live with families in America for 4-6 weeks.
One special note - since MIR is chartered as a humanitarian, educational, and cultural-exchange public organization, the people we invite should be involved in those kinds of activities--visiting orphanages, working in camps, doing medical programs, leading educational programs (i.e. English camps), etc.
MIR employs Russian staff for our partner American mission organizations, giving legal employment and administrative support for those staff members.
Plans and Goals
MIR is beginning the process of learning how to best support foster families and possibly open a group home for orphans.MIR contiunues to improve our hosting program called New Horizons for Children, inviting Russian orphans to live with American families for 4-6 weeks. We send 20-60 children, for summer and winter trips.
MIR is also starting a Russian hosting program, helping Russian families welcome orphans into homes. We will also provide support for adoptive, foster, and "anchor" families (and "anchor" family is one who commits to being a life-long anchor for a particular child).
