Mission Statement
Viva is a global movement of Christians passionately concerned for children at risk, committed to every child having the opportunity to become all that God intends.
Overview of Ministry Activity
Worldwide, the church runs thousands of projects caring for children at risk. However, these projects are often under-resourced in terms of finance, staff and materials. They are also often not aware of other Christian groups seeking to achieve the same aims. Viva began in the early 1990's to help to mobilise Christians to serve children at risk by encouraging the development of networks. At present over 60 network initiatives exist worldwide.
As a movement, Viva aims to:
- Improve quality of care for children - assisting each other to attain appropriate standards of excellence.
- Increase action on behalf of children - motivating and equipping a compassionate response.
- Influence decision-makers, - Being an effective and powerful voice to promote justice for children at risk.
To achieve these aims the Viva Network Facilitation Team (VNFT) has been formed. As a global team, we have three strategic objectives:
- Develop effective local networks and national collaborations, producing significant outcomes that impact children.
- Develop international and regional partnerships that energise and support the local network initiatives.
- Develop an information hub that is the best source of helpful information to projects and networks working with children at risk.
In Eastern Europe, Viva is currently supporting or trying to establish networks in Slovakia, Ukraine and Russia. Please contact us if you would like to know more about any of these initiatives.
