Mission Statement
We are a small non-profit corporation that has only three paid employees: one in the United States and two in-field coordinators in Russia. The remainder of the work at the ministry is conducted by an army of Christian volunteers with a heart and calling to follow God\'s call to Russia.
We keep our organization small for a reason. We are not about building expensive infrastructure and bureaucracy. Instead, our sincere desire is to "pass through" every possible nickel to the advancement of the Kingdom in Russia...and specifically as it pertains to orphan children there.
All expenditures are reviewed and approved by the organization\'s unpaid Board Of Directors which is made up of Christian business people.
Overview of Ministry Activity
Christmas Art contest
Each year, over 50,000 children, living in orphanages spanning all eleven time zones in Russia, participate in TEAR\'s Christmas Art contest.
To participate in the art contest, the orphans must study the true meaning of Christmas by reading the bible. Then, in addition to painting their picture, the orphans must also complete a questionnaire that further reinforces the message of Christ\'s birth.
The top 1,000 paintings are sent, along with the completed questionnaires, to Moscow for final judging. A panel of judges selects the best ten paintings from this group of 1,000 and TEAR brings the ten winning orphans to America to spend about two weeks celebrating Christmas with an American family.
The artwork is simply amazing. In fact, the top 150 submissions have been displayed in the Moscow Art Museum for the past two years.
Project My Child
By American standards, the cost of living in Russia is extremely low. For a very modest monthly contribution, you can make a major difference in the life of your orphan child.
When you pledge your support to a child, you will receive a brochure that tells you several things about your child... his or her hobbies, birth date, and so on. You\'ll also receive an original color photograph of the child.
The money you contribute for your child\'s well-being is spent in his or her orphanage. Each quarter, you will receive an update regarding progress made in your child\'s orphanage.
How are My Child projects selected? When a ROCK Partner mission team returns from the field, they are de-briefed about special needs that have been identified in your child\'s orphanage. Since the needs are many, all projects must be approved by the TEAR board of directors, which is an unpaid group of Christian business people.
Long term, our desire is to also establish educational foundations whereby children that qualify, can be sent to institutions of higher learning. Surprisingly, it only costs about $500 per year to send a Russian child to college.
