Mission Statement
VOLGOGRAD REGIONAL CHARITY VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION ( UNESCO CLUB “DIGNITY OF THE CHILD) works in the field of the special protection and care for children of the Volgograd region on the South of Russia.The aim of UNESCO Club “ Dignity of the child ” foundation is to perfect defense and charity work in children\'s interest, to settle family and childhood social problems:
- Children’s rights and civic dignity defense
- Unification of all society structures’ efforts for childhood problems resolution
- Culture of peace and non-aggression for children of the planet
- the control over realization of The Convention on the Rights of the Child in Volgograd region;
-children\\\'s rights and civic dignity defense, perfection of the laws concerning children\\\'s rights and interests, independent public control organization;
-UNESCO and UNICEF ideas and principles dissemination, the culture of peace and non-agression development in children\\\'s interest;
-children\\\'s and adults\\\' civic initiatives support, development of cooperation between public organizations;
-development of voluntary organization\\\'s partnership with state and business structures and mass media.
UNESCO, UNICEF- FOR CHILDREN». The club has published 18 a quarterly informational bulletins about new documents and programs of UNO, UNESCO, UNICEF and WHO. The bulletin is available on request of organizations.
Overview of Ministry Activity
"Dignity of the Child" - Legal aid bureau which serves for observance and protection of rights of children from orphanages and internat institutions of Volgograd region.
"Children\'s contribution for Democracy" - Civil and legal education for orphans, involvement of children into civil rights advocacy work.
"Warm Home" - Prevention of renunication of quardianship.
"Rights to Children" - consolidation of efforts of volunteers who work with children at risk.
"Social Mission" - Collaboration between religious and non-govenmental organizations working for children and youth.
"Social Partnership" - Collaboration with local officials in order to reform state System of Children\'s Rights Protection according to international standards.
The Club was founded in 2000 on social and juridical children defense organizations leaders\' initiative. Registration number # 2974 - 4.06.2001. The Club is an independent public self-governing voluntary unity of the citizens. The club\\\'s activities are charity and non-commercial. Its work is funded by voluntary Russian and international donations. The money of the club is under public control and the financial information is available for everybody.
The Club is officially registered in UNESCO structures. It is also a member of Russian UNESCO Club Federation, Union "Civil society for Russian children", Volgograd Coalition “Rights for children”, Volgograd network "Social service". The club\\\'s activities are based both on the priorities of peace culture and non-aggression decade and of Global International movement in children\\\'s interests declared by UN, UNESCO, UNICEF.
PROGRAMS
UNESCO CLUB «DIGNITY OF THE CHILD» has launched a number of programs most of which were carried out in cooperation with regional and international non governmental organizations and churches:
«THE CHILD\\\'S LAWYER». The program supports public children\\\'s rights center of and is carried out in cooperation with a regional plenipotentiary in kid\\\'s rights. The center is for kids, teenagers, parents, guardians, legal representatives of kids and all the people interested in children\\\'s rights defense. Experienced lawyers and social workers deal with the following problems: parents violence, negative influence of kid\\\'s environment, getting allowances and privileges, etc. The center\\\'s officials may represent children in court. The specialists of the center does monitoring of children\\\'s rights, analyze the law from the point of view of children\\\'s rights, carry out social researches on some problems of childhood. The centre has assisted more than 2000 children.
«THE CHILDREN\\\'S CONTRIBUTION TO DEMOCRACY». The program supports the children\\\'s civil initiatives and children\\\'s participation in the decision of problems. Children\\\'s communities are formed at 12 schools of Volgograd. Children participate in creative and is right - educational meetings with children as having infringed the penal law, orphans, invalids in special children\\\'s houses, children\\\'s prisons, etc. The program has supported more than 500 children.
«CHILDREN IN BOARDING INSTITUTIONS». The Club conducts continuous support and renders the regular legal, social, humanitarian help to 50 orphan childr in boarding institutions and families, 50 girls, 300 boys, 60 young women in prison. The Club conducts the public control of life of children in boarding institutions and prisons, promotes their reforming. The Club promotes supports groups for former inmates for them socialization and integration. Now we are building a system of advocacy and support for girls and young women in prison and after discharge from prison.
CIVIC SOCIETY - FOR CHILDREN” The program develops cooperation between non governmental organizations for children on Volgograd region. We have conducted 3 yearly conferences ”Civic society for Volgograd children” for 150 participants. 35 of them have created the coalition “Rights for Children”. The Club is the coordinator of this Coalition. One of the trends of the coalition\\\'s activities is involvement of the children into work for human rights and a culture of peace. We call it “work for children together with children”. Such approach allows to develop democratic values in the young generation. In 2003 in activity of a coalition have joined of 5 Christian churches. Now it is Volgograd network "Social service ".
“SOCIAL PARTNERSHIP - FOR CHILDREN”. It is supported to conduct a number of informational educational seminars and discussions devoted to definite childhood problems: children\\\'s rights and juvenile justice, orphans and homeless children, violence, disability, adoption and guardianship, drug addiction, alcoholism, juvenile delinquency, ethnic intolerance, etc. The seminars are held for state structures. They can get help in finding the partners from the “third sector ”.
Plans and Goals
All our work aims to protect chidren\'s interests by- lobbying children\'s rights; improvement in civil rights advocacy system;
- workng with local legislative initiative;
- networking between NGO\'s, churches, business and state representatives;
- introduction of independent public control mechanisms.
