Mission Statement

The purpose of the House of Hope or Selimbar Girls\' Home (as it is also known) is to minister to young women who have grown up in orphanages. When they need to leave at the age of 18, most do not have a place to go, nor do they have a job skill. They also do not have life skills that would enable them to surive. This transition house provides the girls a place to stay, helps them find a job, teaches them life skills, and introduces them to the love and message of Jesus Christ.

Overview of Ministry Activity

The girls work outside the home, but there is much support to help them learn how to successfully hold down a job. Most of the girls are developmentally delayed, at least emotionally. They help with the work around the home in the kitchen and the garden. They also attend Bethany Baptist Church in Sibiu each Sunday. There are other activities that are scheduled around the work schedules of the girls.

Plans and Goals

We currently serve 10 girls, but there is space for more. Finances are what make it difficult to accept more at this time. We are in need of financial partners to help sponsor the girls to pay for operational expenses. We would like to expand to 20 girls in the future. This will require more staff, as well. The main goal is that each girl would understand and experience the love of Jesus Christ in her life and come to know Him as Savior.
