Overview of Ministry Activity
Lighthouse Orphan Foundation works within existing state orphanages to provide academic and life skill teachers. We provide one on one and small group academic tutoring to orphans with the goal of gaining them entrance to tertiary study. We also provide art therapy, sports programs and Christian life style and educational programs and attend summer camps with the children.
When students we tutor graduate / leave the orphanage we provide weekly mentoring for them, assistance with studies / job finding and also provide financial and material assistance in setting up their home.
Lighthouse has been working in Russia since 2002. We currently work in Kazan, Tatarstan and employ 16 teachers, in 3 orphanages, working with over 60 children each week. All administrative tasks are carried out by volunteers, thus enabling 100% of donations to go directly to teacher wages and resources for children.
In 2008 we were thrilled to have 6 students enter into University.
We are a registered charity and have tax deductable status in New Zealand and are a registered NGO in Russia.
